Project Description
The Extraction project is part of Syncrude's Southwest Quadrant Replacement (SWQR) expansion project. The project is made up of three separate plants: Plant 237 – Hydrotransport The Hydrotransport upgrades include the installation of four new 3,500 hp slurry pump house facilities that deliver oil sands slurry from a new slurry preparation facility in the mine to a new super pot located in the extraction area 240. Plant 240 – Extraction The superpot will receive and mix slurry flow from two of the three hydrotransport trains and distribute the mixed slurry equally to the existing primary separation vessels. Plant 250 – Tailings The coarse tailings system disposes the tailings from the existing primary separation vessels to the distributor system which will distribute to three separate tailings transport pipe lines.
